The Smoky Mountain Angler carries everything you need for a successful fishing trip in the Smokies or anywhere! As the oldest fly shop in Gatlinburg and the only fly fishing outfitter in town, we feature quality fishing gear from Orvis, Simms, Sage, Ross, Able, Redington and more. We have the area’s best selection of locally hand tied and commercial flies. Open year round, we are a TWRA license agent and carry rental equipment. Drop by when you are in the area and let us show you why we are Gatlinburg’s trout fishing headquarters. With guide services offered and being only minutes from wild mountain trout streams or local stocked waters, we will have you on your way to a great outing in no time!
We have an authorized fishing guide service for the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Our guides can help the most experienced fly fisherman have a trip to remember or turn a beginner into a lifelong fly fishing enthusiast. With years of experience in the Smokies, our guides will show you the techniques required to catch wild mountain trout in the park, or hook into a stocker in local waters. As well as, keep us informed on the right patterns and sizes of flies to use, since effective patterns change seasonally.
There is no better place to gather a storehouse of special moments than the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and the surrounding area. From a youngster’s first trout, to pristine mountain streams and vistas, your experiences here will kindle a desire to return for years to come. The mountain trout in the National Park waters are stream-born, wild and very determined to survive! Prohibiting bait and treble hooks levels the playing field and makes each catch a source of pride and sense of accomplishment.
In addition, Gatlinburg offers permits for “city waters” that offer opportunities to catch trout the city stocks each week. This is a great chance for young and old alike to enjoy the excitement of a “fish on”. There are even “kids only” areas designated. Drop by the shop and we will point you in the right direction and provide all you need for a great day on the water.
